FAQ

Got a question?  Chances are it’s covered below.  If you can’t find what you’re looking for, or if things still aren’t clear, contact me.

The assessments I use have been stringently validated to ensure that they accurately measure your career profile (your career related interests, personality, values and abilities).  When we select an occupation that is aligned with our career profile, significant scientific research indicates we are more likely to feel satisfied and fulfilled, and less likely to leave that occupation.  Practically speaking, career assessment can give you the knowledge and insight you need to feel confident about your next career move.

I want this to go as smoothly as possible, so this process is designed to make things convenient at every turn.

  1. First, give me a call or send me an email to set up our first conversation. Usually by phone, we'll talk for 15 minutes or so about why you are considering career assessment/consultation and I'll describe how you might benefit.  There's no obligation to go any further if it doesn't feel like the right choice.
  2. If you decide to move forward, we'll schedule our first consultation session. I'll also send you an email with some pre-work needed for the first session and the information you need to complete the assessment battery.  This will take several hours, but can be completed from any computer with internet access.
  3. At our first session, we'll focus mostly on your career history: what choices have you made so far, what specific questions are you looking to answer from the assessment results, etc.  We won't get into your assessment results yet.
  4. Sessions two through four are focused on working our way through your assessment results.  We generally spend one session on interest, one on personality, and cover values and abilities in the third.  These sessions can be spaced out, or completed back to back "seminar style".  I'm glad to meet in person or digitally as you prefer.
  5. At our fourth and final session, we'll integrate all of our work together into a usable action plan.

The efficacy of career consultation is consistently well supported in the scientific literature. See this link for a current search of research articles on the subject, or contact me for an overview.

Career assessment/consultation is designed to provide you with invaluable career knowledge and insight.  However, MNCC is not a job placement service and does not provide specific hiring referrals.

From our first phone call, the process will usually take 6 - 8 weeks.  If clients choose to conduct their assessment interpretation sessions back to back ("seminar style") this time can be reduced to 4 - 6 weeks.  This is usually an adequate amount of time to have our initial session, for you to complete the assessment battery, and complete our remaining three sessions.

My extended assessment/consultation package costs $950, including all assessments, sessions, and reports.
